BCCI announces squad for India's tour of Sri Lanka, Dhawan to captain the side


The All-India Senior Selection Committee, on Thursday, June 10, picked the Indian squad for the 3-match ODI series and the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka scheduled in the month of July. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the Vice-Captain, in the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

India Squad: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Rana, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, K Gowtham, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (vc), Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya.

A total of six debutants have been added to the squad: Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Krishnappa Gowtham, Chetan Sakariya, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Rana.

Rahul Dravid will be the coach of the Indian Team for the Sri Lanka tour.

The ODIs will be played on July 13, 16 and 18 while the T20Is will be played on July 21, 23 and 25. All the matches will be played at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.

Meanwhile, the Indian Test Team led by Captain Virat Kohli reached Southampton on June 10, and completed their first "intense" training session yesterday. The Indian team is set to face New Zealand for the World Test Championship Final, to be held from June 18 to 22.
