Keeping in view the prevailing situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining the necessary protocols and guidelines issued by the Centre and State governments, on Saturday, June 5, Assam observed World Environment Day.
Bharatiya Janata Party Borjalenga Mandal committee observed the day by planting saplings in various Panchayat areas and health centres under Borjalenga Development Block, alongside, every block of Dholai Assembly Constituency under the direction of Parimal Suklabaidya, MLA of Dholai & Assam's Minister of Forest and Environment. World Environment Day has also been observed in Borjalenga Mandal.
At around 11 AM under Borjalenga GP's Mini Primary Health Centre, West Dholai ZP member Lakshmi Rani Yadav officially started the tree planting programme in the presence of Borjalenga Block AP President Subudh Das, Media Incharge BJYM Cachar Mohitosh Tanti, Anchalik Panchayat of Borjalenga GP Bulti Deb , Satyendra Roy & Yuva Morcha President Sujit Kumar Das. Bishnu Dayal Goala along with the few Mandal Karyakartas were among others who also joined.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakshmi Rani Yadav west dholai ZP member appealed to the people of Borjalenga Block to conserve nature amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an impassioned plea, ZP Member said, "When the world at large is reeling under the COVID-19 pandemic and there is lack of oxygen leading to fatalities, the need of the hour is to conserve Nature - it's flora and fauna - for human race to survive. It's nature that gives solutions to our problems and keeps us alive."
Bulti Deb AP Member of Borjalenga said that man and nature must live in communion and everyone must work relentlessly to conserve nature as 'our very survival hinges on it'.
She also appealed to the people to plant at least two to three saplings to make the world greener and the atmosphere laden with oxygen which is so vital against the backdrop of coronavirus scourge. She called on everyone to join hands to conserve nature for our own survival amidst the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Deb also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Departmental Authorities of Borjalenga Mini Primary Health Centre as well as the Health workers and thanked them for their selfless services in the fight against COVID-19. She pointed out that under the guidance of MLA, Dholai Assembly Constituency and Assam's Forest & Environment, Fisheries and Excise Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya, Borjalenga block is fully committed to improve the green cover.
