Several Key Decisions were taken in the Cabinet meeting today, that is, on Wednesday, May 26 chaired by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in Dispur.
The Cabinet has taken a decision to simplify the process of providing financial assistance through Kushal Konwar Briddha Pension Scheme, Indira Miri Widow Pension Scheme and Deendayal Dibang Yojana. Funds shall be released to 13 lakh beneficiaries of Kushal Konwar Briddha Pension Scheme, 1,60,000 beneficiaries of Deen Dayal Divyang Yojana & 1,70,000 beneficiaries of Indira Miri Widow Pension Scheme on 10th of every month.
The Cabinet today approved the creation of a private department called the Bodoland Welfare Department, separating the work related to Bodoland from the Welfare Department of the Vayam Tribes and Other Backward Classes.
Further, the decision was made to start the work of setting up of the Bodoland Administrative Officers' College at Kokrajhar immediately and if there was no government building as required to be found then the working of the college should begin from a rented building.
The Cabinet today also approved specific guidelines on the responsibilities and duties of the Guardian Ministers of the District Administration.
Ranjit Kumar Dass-The Panchayat & Rural Development Minister and state BJP President has been given the responsibility of Barpeta, Bongaigaon, and Dhubri districts.
Atul Bora- Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Border Area Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Cooperation Minister will be the guardian minister of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.
Chandra Mohan Patowary- Transport, Industries, and Commerce Minister has been given the responsibility of Darrang, Kamrup (R), and Kamrup (M) districts.
Parimal Suklabaidya- Environment & Forests, Fisheries, Excise Minister will be the guardian minister of Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Hojai.
Keshab Mahanta- Health & Family Welfare Minister has been given the responsibility of the Golaghat and Morigaon districts.
Urkhao Gwra Brahma- Handloom & Textile, Soil Conservation, Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes Minister has been given the responsibility of Baksa and Chirang districts.
Ranoj Pegu- Education, Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes (non-BTC) Minister has been given the responsibility of Jorhat and Sivasagar districts.
Ashok Singhal- Guwahati Development, urban Development, Irrigation Minister has been given the responsibility of Kokrajhar, Udalguri and Cachar districts.
Jogen Mohan- Revenue & Disaster Management, Hills Area Development, Mines and Minerals Minister has been given the responsibility of West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.
Sanjay Kishan- Welfare of Tea Tribes, Labour and Employment Minister has been given the responsibility of Dhemaji and North Lakhimpur districts.
Ajanta Neog- Finance, Social Welfare Minister has been given the responsibility of Nalbari, Goalpara and South Salmara districts.
Pijush Hazarika- Water Resources, Information and Public Relations, Parliamentary Affairs Minister has been given the responsibility of Nagaon, Sonitpur and Biswanath districts.
Bimal Bora- Sports & Youth Welfare, Cultural Affairs, Power, Tourism Minister has been given the responsibility of Majuli, Bajali and Charaideo districts.
The key responsibilities of the Guardian Ministers of District Administration would be-
● The implementation of policy decisions, administrative reforms and other welfare schemes
● Review of Central and State schemes
● Help deliver justice through faster decision making on citizens' applications and complaints.
