The Karimganj District reported 110 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. This takes the total tally of COVID-19 cases in the district to 5,424. 94 cases among the 110 total positive cases on Tuesday, were detected by Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), while the remaining 16 were detected by RT-PCR.
72 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the district on Tuesday. They have been released from hospitals and home isolation. Thus, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the district stands at 718.
It has also been informed that a total of 2,42,153 swab samples have been tested so far in the district, out of which 1,390 samples were tested on Tuesday. The district currently has 25 active containment zones.
The District Administration of Karimganj has converted the Indoor sports stadium, situated at Brojendra Road, into a COVID Care Centre on Tuesday. This was informed in an order issued by the District Magistrate cum Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority. The Circle Officer of Karimganj Sadar Revenue Circle has been made the incharge of the centre. The Joint Director of Health Services has been to depute a Nodal Officer, who should not be below the rank of M&HO-I. He has also been directed to arrange medical, paramedical and other support staffs for proper functioning of the COVID Care Centre.
